History

The Old Thatch Stag's Head Inn at Great Warford was the home of the Wood family for a good many years. The hanging sign was a stag's head, which is part of the crest of the Stanleys of Alderley.

Mr William Richardson took over the Old Stag's Head from the Wood family in 1883 and his first child was born there. The new Stag's Head was built around 1899 next to the site of the old pub. The Richardson family held the licence for several decades until 1968.

The Stag's Head has had various owners since then and is now owned by a local entrepreneur, who after several years of visiting the Stag's Head as his local watering hole, decided to buy the business!

In June 2011 The Stag's Head underwent various improvements. The main development being our fantastic southerly facing decking and garden area which looks out onto the beautiful Cheshire countryside.
